I wish this really was an unpopular opinion.
^This. Have they started reblogging it with “haha, but she is” yet? They will soon, probably. Grrr.
I love her and so do many, many others.

Martha isn’t the worst companion.
But.
I think she was treated the worst, in the show…
But Martha Jones is fucking flawless.
DFJHGFJS HOW IS THIS STILL NOT AN UNPOPULAR OPINION? MARTHA JONES IS A FUCKING STAR, OKAY?! I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE TALKING CRAP ABOUT HER. I DON’T EVEN CARE IF SHE WASN’T YOUR FAVOURITE OR WHATEVER. LOVE ALL THE COMPANIONS, NO MATTER WHAT.
Oh, yeah, Martha Jones is definitely the worst. She never does anything worthwhile. She didn’t:
- Save the Doctor through CPR (“Smith and Jones”)
- Restart the Doctor’s heart AGAIN (“The Shakespeare Code”)
- Send the Carrionites back through the portal (“The Shakespeare Code”)
- Save Milo and Cheen from the Macra (“Gridlock”)
- Electrocute all of the Daleks’ pig slaves (“Evolution of the Daleks”)
- Help the Doctor defeat Lazarus (“The Lazarus Experiment”)
- Save the Doctor from being destroyed by the sun (“42”)
- Look after John Smith despite his cruel treatment (“Human Nature”)
- Force him to help her defeat the Family (“The Family of Blood”)
- Help save Sally Sparrow from the Weeping Angels (“Blink”)
- Alert the Doctor to the Master’s presence (“Utopia”)
- Take Jack’s vortex manipulator to escape the Master and save the Doctor (“The Sound of Drums”)
- Travel around the world by herself for an entire year (“Last of the Time Lords”)
- SAVE THE WORLD SINGLEHANDEDLY (“Last of the Time Lords”)
- Leave the Doctor out of respect for herself and love for her family (“Last of the Time Lords”)
And that was only when she was a main companion. Afterwards, she was even more useless, right?
Martha Jones:
- Works to improve UNIT’s ethics from the inside (“The Sontaran Stratagem” / “The Poison Sky”)
- Helps the Doctor defeat the Sontarans (“The Sontaran Stratagem” / “The Poison Sky”)
- Tries to find the Source on her own (“The Doctor’s Daughter”)
- Chooses her family above her own desire for adventure (“The Doctor’s Daughter”)
- Escapes UNIT to carry out Project Indigo (“The Stolen Earth”)
- Offers to sacrifice her own life [through the Osterhagen Key] to save the universe from Davros (“Journey’s End”)
- Tows the Earth back to its ‘home’ (“Journey’s End”)
- Works with Mickey to hunt down rogue aliens (“The End of Time - Part 2”)
Martha was everything a companion should be and more. After everything Martha’s done, every time she’s ever saved the Doctor and put others’ lives — not just human lives, but alien ones as well — above her own, it is amazing to me that people can still say that she wasn’t a good companion.
And in a way, they’re right — Martha Jones was not a good companion. She was a GREAT companion. I would even go as far as to say that she was the best.
Reblogging as text because nobody needs to see that bullshit.
And once again, that unspoken racialized hatred of Martha Jones comes out again…
And don’t forget that Martha was the only one who didn’t need to be non-human to save the world. Everyone else had to do with some type of outside force to make them save the world/universe. She is special because all she had was her MIND. There is no comparison.
THANKS!

Stop what you’re doing and watch this.
A tribute to all the Doctor’s companions since the new series.
Ten + Martha.

Why?
Because she is everything I want in a strong female character. She’s caring, smart, strong, and can kick ass without a big strong man rescuing her.
I think she put up with a lot of crap from the doctor and in the end walked away from him a better person than when she first entered the Tardis.
She’s an absolute BAMF in my opinion and I miss her.
Also, if I hear one more person saying that she’s throwing herself at the DOKTAH I will punch something.
